The Lebanese economic bodies on Monday held an extraordinary meeting chaired by its President, Caretaker Minister, Mohammad Choucair.
The meeting followed up on various developments in the country, most notably the formation of a new government and the worsening economic, financial, and social conditions.
After lengthy discussions, the economic bodies issued a statement in which they called for a general strike on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
“In order to push for a swift formation of a government that meets the aspirations of the people and one that is capable of facing the tremendous challenges, address crises, and restore local and international confidence in Lebanon, the economic bodies unanimously decided to call for the implementation of a general strike, and the complete closure of all private institutions across Lebanon on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday on November 28, 29, and 30.”
