Former Justice Minister Ibrahim Najjar said Lebanon has the right to reject any ambassador without having to provide justification for its decision, and that Lebanese security forces could arrest the Iranian ambassador as soon as he leaves the Iranian Embassy.

Speaking to MFM, Najjar said that any alternative solution to the issue of the Iranian ambassador would constitute a violation of Lebanese sovereignty, insisting that the only solution is for him to leave Lebanon.

Najjar also criticized the recently approved amnesty law, saying: “I would not have supported the amnesty law. What was approved today is a discretionary, selective and political amnesty, intended to settle political debts with Syria, those who went to Israel, and the Lebanese state.” He added that the law could be challenged once it is published.
