The Ministry of Agriculture announced measures to stabilize the potato market and ease pressure on consumers, including importing limited quantities from Egypt in coordination with Bekaa farmers.

The initiative follows a recent campaign and aims to curb price fluctuations until local production from Akkar enters the market in early April, with full supply expected by mid-month.

Potatoes will be sold at no more than LBP 400,000 per 10 kilograms through participating outlets.

The ministry said the step is part of a broader plan to support purchasing power, maintain market balance and prevent exploitation, while reinforcing food security.
