Religious scholar Sayyed Ali Fadlallah held a dialogue session at the Islamic Cultural Center in Haret Hreik titled "Islam’s Position on Procrastination," addressing questions about the latest developments in Lebanon and the region.
Fadlallah described procrastination as a harmful habit that delays duties and the fulfillment of others’ rights, urging people to take action rather than rely on deferred promises.
Commenting on regional developments, he warned of mounting threats and pressure but said diplomatic solutions could emerge before tensions escalate. He called for vigilance, particularly in Lebanon, and stressed that national unity is essential to prevent internal strife.
He praised the Lebanese Army’s handling of sensitive national issues, warning against involving it in internal conflicts and describing it as a cornerstone of civil peace and national unity.
Fadlallah also renewed his call to abolish political sectarianism and build a state based on citizenship, justice, the rule of law and equal rights, with competence as the basis for assuming responsibility.
He urged media outlets to avoid provocative rhetoric that deepens divisions and called on the Ministry of Information and the National Council for Audiovisual Media to promote responsible reporting and protect domestic stability.
Commenting on the shooting at a church in Jordan, Fadlallah condemned the incident, warning against attempts to fuel sectarian tensions. He stressed that such acts distort Islam’s message of mercy, tolerance and coexistence.
