MP Simon Abi Ramia met with Minister of Public Works Rasamny to discuss development and infrastructure priorities in the Jbeil district, particularly road rehabilitation projects and preparations for the upcoming winter season, according to a statement issued by the lawmaker’s media office.
Discussions focused on priority projects involving major roads connecting towns and villages, as well as internal roads essential to improving municipal infrastructure and public services.
Key projects included the Hboub–Annaya road, which has been put out to tender, the completion of the Laklouk–Aaqoura road, and the Laklouk–Mazraat el-Siyad–Cherbineh–Qartaba route, alongside internal roads identified by municipalities, local representatives and mukhtars as requiring rehabilitation.
Abi Ramia stressed the need to establish a clear roadmap, identify priorities and begin preparations to facilitate project implementation in 2027.
The meeting also addressed snow-clearing operations and winter preparedness. Abi Ramia called for advance planning, maintenance of snowplows and provision of the necessary equipment to ensure operational readiness once snowfall begins.
He specifically requested the establishment of a snow-clearing center in Aaqoura and the allocation of a snowplow to Qahmez to ensure rapid intervention, maintain road safety and preserve connectivity between villages, particularly in mountainous areas.
The two officials also discussed the expansion of the Jounieh highway, emphasizing its strategic importance beyond the immediate region and its potential to ease traffic congestion and improve mobility.
Concluding the meeting, Abi Ramia underscored the importance of sustained coordination with the Ministry of Public Works and Transport to translate the proposed projects into concrete measures based on clearly defined development priorities.
