Israeli army spokesperson Ella Waweya said that troops from the 188th Brigade Combat Team, operating under the command of the 36th Division, are conducting operations in the Shqif Heights and Litani River areas to eliminate Israeli threats. She said the troops had previously spent around 20 months operating in the Gaza Strip before undergoing a period of training.
In a post on X, Waweya said that during the operation, troops found more than 340 weapons and military items, including RPG rounds, anti-tank missiles, mortar shells, small arms, explosive devices, hand grenades, and ammunition.
She added that troops also discovered an underground tunnel entrance, approximately seven meters deep, inside a civilian home. It contained medical equipment and supplies for staying inside the tunnel.
We will not allow Hezbollah to threaten the citizens of Israel, and we will continue operating to eliminate threats while adhering to the ceasefire agreement, she said.
