A Message from Khamenei to Putin...

Iranian state television reported that Mohsen Rezaei delivered a message from Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei to Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting at the Kremlin, where they discussed ending the war and regional security.

Following the meeting, Rezaei said that the Supreme Leader had tasked him with delivering the message to Putin as soon as possible. He added that the Russian president had sent his warm and sincere regards to Khamenei.

The Iranian official said he had held important discussions with Putin on regional developments, security arrangements in the region and the post-war phase.

Rezaei also said that Putin had condemned the bombing of Iran’s nuclear facilities and described the war against Iran as an extremely harsh act, according to statements attributed to the Iranian official. An informed Iranian source said that ending the war was the main focus of the Putin-Rezaei talks.

According to the source, Rezaei told Putin that Tehran would not reopen the Strait of Hormuz until all seven of its conditions were fully met, adding that Iran would not negotiate over this decision.

On the economic front, Rezaei revealed that the talks also addressed plans to build pipelines to transport Russian gas to Iran, with the aim of addressing domestic gas shortages and enabling Iran to re-export Russian gas to neighboring countries.

Neither side announced technical or financial details of the project or confirmed that a final agreement had been reached on its implementation.

The meeting was attended on the Russian side by presidential aide Yuri Ushakov and Igor Kostyukov, head of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces. Iranian officials Ali Bagheri Kani and Iran’s ambassador to Moscow, Kazem Jalali, also attended.
