Finance Minister Yassine Jaber stressed that international financial cooperation must be measured by its ability to translate funding into tangible investments and results, warning that delayed assistance increases recovery costs.
Addressing the 17th Bosphorus Summit in Istanbul, Jaber emphasized that Lebanon’s economic recovery requires credible reforms, banking sector restructuring and effective project implementation.
He said the 2027 draft budget seeks to strengthen fiscal discipline and revenues through improved tax compliance and administrative efficiency, without introducing new taxes.
Jaber highlighted regional integration in transport, energy and trade as an investment opportunity, while reaffirming Lebanon’s commitment to meeting Financial Action Task Force (FATF) requirements.
He stressed that international assistance cannot replace domestic reform.
On the sidelines, Jaber met Jordanian Senate President Faisal Al-Fayez, Nigeria’s finance minister and Turkish investors to discuss economic cooperation and investment opportunities.
