From Saint George Cathedral in downtown Beirut the Easter was celebrated along with the Greek Orthodox Archbishop of Beirut Elias Audi, who launched a serious of national stances focusing on the latest developments.

Archbishop Audi criticized during the sermon the attack on religious figures, hinting at the spoof of Cardinal Mar Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir in a comedy show, saying that, "Extremism is blinding people and separating them from each other. The sin and corruption are spread everywhere, moreover the death is couching every human every moment due to wars, fears, killing, assassinations and natural disasters.” He added, “Even the nature won’t have mercy on us because Man never did.”

Audi stressed that we are far from civilization because, "Civilization is not about wealth, cars and mansions. It is dialogue, peace, justice and values. Civilization is based on the respect of other people's freedoms" he added.

Audi called for activation of democracy instead of blocking it, he also urged the approval of a fair electoral law which considers just representation for all the Lebanese citizens, and to hold the polls on time. "The elections should be held on time ...There should be unity around the president to save the country from deadlocks," he concluded.
