Kanaan follows up with Rasamny on development needs of Metn District
MP Ibrahim Kanaan met with Minister of Public Works and Transport Fayez Rasamny, with whom he reviewed the infrastructure and development needs of the Matn district, covering coastal, central, and mountainous areas.

Discussions focused on projects funded by the 2024 state budget that were delayed due to Israeli aggression, but have now resumed in areas such as Al-Ayoun, Al-Masqa, Al-Ghaba, and Mazraat Yachouh. Work is also planned for Baabdat, Al-Safileh, Nabeyeh, Joura El-Ballout, Jal El-Dib, Dekwaneh Square leading to Ashrafieh Bridge, Aintoura, Deir Mar Elias Shweir, the Mansourieh–Mar Roukoz engineering faculty road, Qanabeh–Bsalim, Jal El-Dib–Nabeyeh–Brummana, Jdeideh–Fanar–Kefraya.

The meeting also addressed $3 million worth of 2025 projects, including the Antelias–Bikfaya–Majdel Tarchich road, which has been studied, contracted, and is expected to be referred to the Court of Audit within days.

Other roads under review for rehabilitation include Mkalles–Ain Saadeh–Baabdat–Dawar and Baabdat–Dahr El-Souwan–Bikfaya, which have been added to the northern Metn’s paving and development plans.

Work is also expected to resume on the long-stalled Baskinta–Sannine–Zahle project, as well as Bakish Road, the asphalt works in Naba’a Jaafar, and the Wadi El-Dalb Road.

Kanaan emphasized the importance of maintaining cooperation, especially with the upcoming 2026 budget, praising the minister’s proactive approach across Lebanon. He confirmed that road rehabilitation in Metn is underway and noted close coordination with Minister Rasamny to avoid further delays, particularly on key projects such as Beit Misk Road, the coastal route to Keserwan, and Baskinta–Zahle, which had been halted since 2019 due to the economic collapse.

Kanaan concluded by lauding the long-awaited approval and contracting of the Mkalles–Mansourieh–Ain Saadeh–Baabdat–Dawar road project, pledging to follow up on its execution.
