Qassem: Ready for Peace or Confrontation, But Will Not Surrender
Hezbollah Secretary-General's Deputy, Sheikh Naim Qassem, said on the occasion of Ashura: “We carry the responsibility for the wounded, the prisoners, and the families. You are the torchbearers of liberation, proving to the world that you stand with Hussein and Zainab. This resistance is that of Imam Musa al-Sadr and Sayyed Hassan. It is a resistance that must continue and uphold its pledge.

We are convinced that our duty is to keep the flame of resistance alive, even amid difficult and difficult conditions. In Palestine, resistance has remained active in one form or another over the years.

We will not be part of legitimizing the occupation in Lebanon or the region. We reject normalization, which is surrender and humiliation. Those who normalize ties will soon face negative consequences from both Israel and the U.S. The people’s choice is the path of Hussein. We are the guardians of this trust — we will continue and confront.”

He continued: “They are trying to threaten us and spread the idea that we must submit if we do not take new steps toward them. But these threats will not make us surrender.

The unchecked aggression, killings, and crimes committed by Israel and the U.S. must come to an end.

Israel is the problem — not the resistance. The resistance is part of the solution, while Israel remains the real crisis.”

He added:  “We are facing two phases: the agreement and the implementation of Resolution 1701. Our position is to first conclude the agreement, and then we are ready to implement the resolution. We have enough flexibility to reach an understanding.

We are not concerned with the U.S.-Israeli equation that threatens with death or surrender. We are committed to our rights, and if martyrdom or victory is required, we are ready.

Don’t question our strength, emotions, or positions — we are men of the field.

On behalf of Hezbollah, I declare that we are ready for both options: ready for peace, state-building, cooperation, and progress toward stability — and equally ready for confrontation and defense.

We are a people who do not submit and will not abandon our rights or dignity.”

He concluded:  “We refuse to live in Lebanon as if in a large prison.”
