Mahmoud Abbas, the president of the Palestinian Authority, has spoken by phone with Qatar’s emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, according to the Palestinian Wafa news agency.
During the call, Abbas updated the Qatari leader on the “continuous Israeli aggression” in Gaza, emphasising the need for an immediate ceasefire and an increase in aid supplies, Wafa said.
Abbas also touched on Israel’s “dangerous escalation” in the occupied West Bank, where Israeli settlers and security forces have ramped up raids and attacks on Palestinians since October 7.
Sheikh Tamim reaffirmed Qatar’s support for the Palestinian people in their quest for “full legitimate rights”, Wafa reported.
