President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, awarded on Wednesday Dr. Ardem Patapoutian (of Lebanese origin) the Lebanese Order of Merit for winning the Nobel Prize in Medicine for year 2021, and in recognition of his distinguished scientific and medical achievement.
The President sent Dr. Patapoutian a congratulatory message, which stated:
“With great pride and joy, I received the news of you winning the 2021 Medicine Nobel Prize. This is a source of pride for all the Lebanese, and a deep appreciation for your scientific career which led to this unprecedented Lebanese achievement, in the current difficult circumstances which our country is passing through, in which we need to reaffirm the cultural and civilizational potential of the Lebanese people.
All mankind will be grateful for the results of your medical research, which constitutes an additional component of the huge scientific effort to promote prevention and treatment in the health field, and for a more comprehensive understanding of the functions of the human body.
Congratulations to you for this high global honor. An honor which undoubtedly culminates in your tireless work, continuous medical research and great efforts. In appreciation of your achievement, I have decided to award you the Gold Lebanese Order of Merit, wishing you more achievements and successes, in addition to continued health and success in your life”.
