The fires that broke out yesterday evening in the outskirts of the towns of Bazal and Habshit are still continuing till the current moment, destroying large areas of forest trees (pines and oaks), fruit trees and agricultural fields, with the risk of approaching nearby houses especially in the town of Habshit.

Since the early hours of the morning, the Civil Defense firefighting teams from several centers, in addition to the first responder team in the “Jurd Al-Qaytaa Municipalities Union” and the Rapid Intervention Team in the “Darb Akkar Association”, as well as area residents, have began working to put out the fire in an attempt to limit the scope of ​​the fire and prevent its expansion.

The residents also appealed to the army command to intervene by sending a military helicopter to speed-up the extinguishing of fires, especially in locations that fire trucks cannot reach due to the ruggedness of the area and absence of roads.
