The Army Command - Orientation Directorate issued the following statement:
"On 14/10/2021, a number of protesters went to Adlieh to take part in a sit-in, there were clashes and exchanges of fire in the Tayouneh-Badaro area, which killed a number of citizens and injured others. Immediately, the army reinforced its deployment in the area, conducted patrols by foot and on motorbikes, and raided a number of places in search of shooters. As a result, nine people from both sides were arrested, including a Syrian. The detainees are being interrogated under the supervision of the competent judiciary.
The Army Command contacted the concerned parties to control the situation and to prevent sedition, and the Command reiterated that it will not be lenient with any armed person. The army units are still deployed in the area to prevent renewed clashes."
