Information Minister George Kordahi on Tuesday welcomed Turkish Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Barış Ulusoy, who paid him a congratulatory visit upon assuming his position as Minister of Information in the new Lebanese government.
During the meeting, the pair reportedly discussed the best means to bolster cooperation and joint relations between the two countries.
After the meeting, the Turkish ambassador indicated that the meeting had been an opportunity to discuss cooperation prospects between the Turkish government and the Ministry of Information in Lebanon, and to keep contacts open in an attempt to follow up on today’s discussions.
In response to a question about Turkey’s role in alleviating the crisis that Lebanon currently witnesses, the Turkish diplomat stressed that Turkey was closely following up on the county’s current conditions, including last Thursday’s developments, which were mentioned in the Turkish Foreign Ministry’s statement.
“Turkey plays a positive role towards the Lebanese state and people in terms of overcoming the economic crises they are going through,” he added.
“The Turkish government and a number of specialized institutions, some of which are effectively in Lebanon, are doing their best to overcome these problems in order to contribute to securing a better life for our brothers and sisters in Lebanon,” Ulusoy concluded.
