President Michel Aoun expressed his hope that the United Nations and its Secretary-General Antonio Guterres would contribute to "Strengthening international cooperation and achieving peace, security and justice among peoples”.
The President’s stances came in a congratulatory cable addressed to the Secretary-General of the United Nations on the occasion of “United Nations Day”.

“As the world celebrates the United Nations Day, I am pleased to extend to you, on my behalf and on behalf of the Lebanese people, my heartfelt congratulations, and my wishes that you will contribute through your responsibilities, as head of the organization, in promoting international cooperation and achieving peace, security and justice among peoples.
I express Lebanon's appreciation to the United Nations Organization, which Lebanon contributed to its establishment, and its firm determination to achieve the best relations with it and abide by its resolutions. I wish you, Mr. Secretary-General, continued health and success in your charitable efforts”.
MP Bano:
President Aoun received MP Antoine Bano, today at Baabda Palace, and deliberated with him current political developments, economic conditions and ways to address them.
MP Bano said that he thanked the President for disbursing 50 billion pounds from his allocations to complete the payment of compensations to those affected by the explosion in the port of Beirut, after disbursing 100 billion pounds for the same purpose.
Bano stressed the importance of speeding up compensation for those affected, especially with the approach of the winter season so that they can “Complete the repair of damages to their homes and properties”.
In addition, Bano addressed the deteriorating situation of electricity, and the attitudes of owners of private generators who raised the prices of electric energy they distribute to citizens, stressing the need for them to install meters for subscribers after the cost exceeded a limit that the citizen is no longer able to commit to paying.
Responding to a question, MP Bano clarified that the current stage is delicate and sensitive which requires special care in order to preserve stability in the country, considering that the political debate complicates the situation, stressing that the army and other security forces are doing their duty to maintain security and “It is not permissible to fabricate events or political climates that could negatively affect stability”.
Moreover, MP Bano emphasized that the investigation into the Beirut port crime must continue with momentum and effectiveness to determine responsibilities, reveal the truth, and prevent the exploitation of the political debate surrounding it to influence its results, which are supposed to clarify the circumstances of this major crime.
Finally, Bano affirmed that President Aoun takes full care of all the issues raised, and he follows them up closely, based on his national responsibilities on one hand, and his role in preserving the laws and regulations in force and preventing them from being violated on the other.
