President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, met with Prime Minister Najib Mikati on Thursday at Baabda Palace and discussed with him the atmosphere of his participation in the Climate Summit in Glasgow, Scotland, and the meetings he held there.
The meeting also addressed the developments of the current crisis of relations between Lebanon and a number of Gulf states and ways to address them.
The President also received the ambassador of the Sovereign Order of the Knights of Malta in Lebanon Bertrand Besancenot, and the Chargé d'Affaires in Lebanon Francois Abi Saab, on the occasion of the end of the mission of ambassador Besancenot in Lebanon after three years he spent as an ambassador for the organization.
President Aoun expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the ambassador during his work in Lebanon, and the support provided by the organization to Lebanon in all fields, especially through its health centers spread in a number of Lebanese regions.
For his part, ambassador Besancenot expressed his hope that Lebanon will overcome the difficult circumstances, stressing that he will work wherever he goes to provide support to the Lebanese who deserve all the attention, care and love.
President Aoun then met with the founder and President of the SAFE WORLD PEACE Association, Mrs. Fadia Khabbaz Otti, and member of the Association Dr. Jean-Michel Wannetzel.
Activities carried out by the Association in Lebanon, especially after the damage to lives and property that occurred following the explosion of the Beirut port were deliberated in the meeting.
Journalist Dalia Dagher, who accompanied the delegation, explained the initiatives undertaken by the SAFE WORLD PEACE Association towards the Lebanese and the health and social assistance it provided, which it intends to provide soon through the institutions working in the humanitarian field in Lebanon.
For his part, President Aoun thanked Ms. Otti and Dr. Wanzel for the association's support to Lebanon, especially in the current circumstances, stressing that the priority is to provide medicines, infant formula, medical supplies and others.
