Hezbollah’s Secretary General, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, said on Thursday that Saudi Arabia’s reaction to the comments made by Information Minister George Kordahi regarding the war in Yemen were “very exaggerated,” accusing the Gulf state of contriving a crisis with Lebanon.
In a televised speech marking Hezbollah’s Martyrs Day, Nasrallah stressed that “the crisis Saudi Arabia has stirred is part of its battle against the Resistance.”
“Saudi Arabia presents itself as a friend of Lebanon, but is this how friends deal with their friends?” he said.
“Saudi Arabia wants its allies in Lebanon to fight a civil war against Hezbollah in favor of the U.S.-Israeli scheme,” he underlined, rejecting Saudi claims about Hezbollah’s dominance over Lebanon.
“Are we a dominant party while we are unable to remove a judge?” he said. “Are we a party that is dominating Lebanon while we are unable to bring diesel ships to the Lebanon shores?”
Nasrallah stressed that he does not seek escalation, but that Hezbollah is concerned with demonstrating the facts.
He went on to say that if Saudi Arabia wants to stop the war in Yemen, it must accept ceasing fire and political negotiations.
On a different note, Nasrallah stressed there is no bargain between the port blast and the Tayouneh cases. “Claims that there is a bargain between the Beirut port explosion case and the Tayouneh massacre are totally baseless,” he said, renewing calls for truth and justice in both dossiers.
Turning to Khaldeh events, the Hezbollah leader underlined that his party was open to reconciliation and to reaching solutions.
“We want pacification. I ask the Lebanese for patience,” he said.
“We are open to calm solutions, just like we did with the events in Khaldeh and the massacre in Tayouneh which was perpetrated by the Lebanese Forces,” he added.
He lastly vowed to follow up on the port blast and Tayouneh cases.
