Industry Minister George Boujikian met on Saturday with a delegation from the Trade, Industry and Agriculture Chamber in Zahle and the Bekaa, who visited him at his Ksara residence to discuss relevant conditions of the industrial sector in their region.
Boujikian stressed that "the Bekaa is more prepared than before to invest in productive projects and establish new industrial establishments in the classified industrial zones, and in the industrial zones launched by the Ministry in cooperation with the Council for Development and Reconstruction, and with European donor countries, organizations, institutions and banks."
He added: "The Bekaa regions are attracting new projects in which businessmen are investing from the outside, and this is a sign of confidence, well-being and stability. It also leads to creating job opportunities for the people of the region."
Boujikian highlighted the importance of establishing factories in the Bekaa due to its proximity to the open borders on export lines to Arab and Gulf states.
Agreement was made during the encounter to hold periodic sessions to consult on ways to activate the production wheel and get the markets out of the state of stagnation, particularly with the approach of Christmas and New Year.
