Prime Minister Najib Mikati on Monday followed up with Minister of Environment Nasser Yassin on the damages caused by the recent fires that broke out in a number of Lebanese areas.
Premier Mikati saluted the army, Civil Defense, scouts teams and all those who helped put out the fires, stressing the need to continue investigations to find out the reasons which led to their outbreak and prevent their recurrence, in addition to arresting the perpetrators and referring them to the competent judiciary.
Mikati also asked the High Relief Commission to conduct the necessary on ground inspection of the fire sites and to swiftly submit a report in this regard.
In this context, Mikati stressed the necessity of doing justice to the Civil Defense personnel, who exerted grave efforts to put out the fires, and who did not hesitate to carry out their duties and make great sacrifices despite their constant suffering.
On the other hand, Premier Mikati met at the Grand Serail with MP Bilal Abdallah, with whom he discussed an array of current affairs.
Separately, Mikati met at the Grand Serail with British Ambassador to Lebanon, Ian Collard, with whom he discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries.
The PM also met with the French Ambassador to Lebanon, Anne Grillo, accompanied by the Director General for Globalization, Culture, Education and International Development, Michel Miraillet, in the presence of PM Mikati's Diplomatic Advisor, Ambassador Boutros Asaker.
The meeting majorly focused on the bilateral relations in the areas of education.
Mikati later received Head of Operations in Lebanon at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Khalil Dinguizli.
Among Premier Mikati’s itinerant visitors for today had been a delegation of the Social Welfare Institutions, in the presence of Minister of Social Affairs Hector Hajjar.
