Prime Minister Najib Mikati on Friday met with the Lebanese Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh, who said: "I have submitted to the PM the report prepared by the auditing company BDO Semaan Gholam & Co. at my request. The report includes audit of my personal accounts and the accounts that have been raised in the media for a year and a half, which are the subject of judicial investigations. I handed it out of transparency and to have the audited data proving that no funds entered into the Central Bank from operations related to Fawry Company, nor funds from the Central Bank that I personally benefited from, and that my accounts within the Bank are completely separate from the accounts of the Central Bank."
Question: Is this step a preemption to the issue of forensic audit? He replied: "There is no connection between the two topics, for forensic audit is taking its course. What I did was a personal initiative on my part to be able to put before you the scientific data that refutes everything we hear or read, as rumors are thrown randomly within a systematic and programmed campaign to undermine me and my dignity. This topic has absolutely nothing to do with other issues, whether forensic audit or judicial investigations."
Question: Will you present this report in Lebanon and abroad, where there are lawsuits? He replied: "Yes."
