Prime Minister Najib Mikati announced on Friday, after meeting with Head of the General Labor Confederation, Bechara Asmar, that "there is a solution to everything in Lebanon, and I have told the President of the Republic today that I will call for the Cabinet to convene soon to restore things back to normal."
"We have entered into a massive inflation as a result of the accumulation of years of subsidies, and frankly, our wishes today are to return to the policy of subsidy, but we are unable to do so because the funds are not available," Mikati said.
"On the issue of social security, we will start at the beginning of next month to register the families most in need, and the amounts will be secured by the World Bank. The process will be electronic and there will be no human intervention and we will not accept that anyone benefit at the expense of another," he affirmed.
The PM also explained that families living at an altitude of more than 700m will be given $190. He said: "We are a host country for refugees, and we try to limit expenses. The world food program will allocate a share to the Lebanese early next year."
