According to his visitors, Prime Minister Tammam Salam noted that Lebanon’s stance, voiced at the Arab Summit, was centered on the Cabinet’s manigesto, adding that it also focuses on the country’s best interests being directly related to Arab consensus over any issue that concerns the region.
Salam’s visitors told al-Joumhouriyah newspaper that the latter had also stated that the country will not interfere in any Arab conflict regarding the Syrian crisis.
“We have decided to distance Lebanon from the Syrian crisis,” he said, noting that the incidents in the neighboring country have already caused quite an internal rift between local factions.
The prime minister also reportedly stated that he will resort to halting Cabinet sessions if any factions object to Lebanon’s self-distancing policy.
