Kataeb party’s politburo held its regular meeting over recent domestic developments.
The meeting featured talks high on the obstruction of the presidential elections, and its ramifications on all power branches of the state system.
“After 25 presidential elections sessions without significant progress, and as a result of shirked national and constitutional duties, Lebanon has become exposed to exceptional dangers, and highly susceptible to the collapse of its power branches which have always been the base of the Lebansese system and the regulator of institutional work,” the statement read.
The party insisted that the only approach that breaks the deadlock belies an adherence to the Constitution, by compelling boycotting lawmakers to head to the parliament and elect a president; “any reluctance in meeting said mechanism is a deliberate delay of the presidential impasse.”
