Two Wisconsin men were charged on Friday with attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State, according to a Justice Department press release issued Friday evening.
Jason Michael Ludke, 35, of Milwaukee, Wis., was charged in a criminal complaint for trying to assist or join the terrorist group. Yosvany Padylla-Conde, 30, of Milwaukee, Wis., was booked on aiding and abetting Ludke's attempt to join ISIS.
Federal agents picked up both men near San Angelo, Texas. The two allegedly had planned to travel to the Middle East by way of Mexico, where they would attain travel documents in order to fly overseas.
The case will be prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul Kanter of the Eastern District of Wisconsin, in cooperation with the Fbi's Counterterrorism Section Task Force. Each suspect faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
