President Michel Aoun on Monday affirmed that Lebanon was "the jewel of the East", enjoying full stability and security. “Those who visit Lebanon do not feel that they are in a part of a blazed region,” he added.
Aoun's remarks came during a meeting with a delegation from the pastoral council of the Maronite Catholic Church of St. Paul, in Minnesota.
“Lebanon has become a modern homeland, the jewel of the East. This is because of the quiet rule I have imposed since I was elected President of the Republic,” Aoun told his visiting delegation.
“Lebanon was infiltrated by terrorists, who were defeated by the Lebanese; now Lebanon enjoys stability and receives visitors and tourists from all over the world,” he added.
Asking if his visiting delegation members to come back to their motherland, Aoun said: “We have drafted a law that will allow you to regain your Lebanese identity. In the upcoming parliamentary elections, you will be able to elect a representative of your choice, which will strengthen ties between Lebanon and its diaspora worldwide.”
