Minister of Industry, Wael Abou Faour, on Monday said in a press conference that the Democratic Gathering Ministers had fought a reform battle at the Council of Ministers today.
"I can confirm that what happened today at the Council of Ministers is reformist par excellence. (...) What is happening on the street can be addressed with some 'cosmetic' procedures," the Minister said.
"It has been agreed not to tamper with salaries, not to impose taxes, and to adopt progressive tax," he added.
He finally pointed out the cabinet's approval to impose taxes worth LBP 600 million on banks, adding that the housing dossier has been returned to the table -- accordingly, $150 million will be referred to the bank.
