Lebanon's Central Bank Governor, Riad Salameh, on Monday said that Lebanon needs an immediate solution within days to restore confidence and avoid any collapse in the future.
Salameh was elaborating on CNN's headline after an interview with him, which read: "Lebanon days away from collapse."
Salameh said the headline did not match with his words during the interview with CNN.
"I am not saying we are on the brink of a collapse in days. I said we need an immediate solution within days," Salameh clarified to Reuters, in reference to CNN's headline.
Salameh stressed "We will maintain the local currency peg to the dollar", stressing Lebanon has "the means to do so."
The Central Bank Governor also emphasized that banks shall open as soon as the situation calms down, saying he did not ask banks to close.
