Strong Lebanon bloc member, MP George Atallah stressed on Wednesday that "the resignation of the government should not be taken out of the general context of the existing uprising," pointing out that "there are just and fundamental demands that constitute a common denominator among all the Lebanese."
He said in an interview that "what has been done, and is being prepared is not isolated from the issues of the region," stressing his party's "firm stance as to the issue of the displaced," and the position of President Michel Aoun and Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil on the subject of Hezbollah's classification as a terrorist organization, "which is one of the reasons for the movement in the street."
"If the file of Hariri's resignation is put aside, the movement becomes confined to a few factions, divided into two parts, one with just demands and the other with parties trying to exploit the movement," Atallah stressed, saying "the resignation came to save the floundering team."
"We regard this [resignation] as such, since Hariri did not coordinate with us," he went on to say. "We have had enough with forces that do not shoulder their responsibility, and enough with those who put the blame on others and run away."
