Kataeb party leader, MP Samy Gemayel on Wednesday welcomed the resignation of the government, considering it as a "victory for the future of Lebanon."
"The resignation of the government is just the beginning, and we should not think that the battle is over," Gemayel told a news conference.
"People said their word; they want a neutral government, and their will must be respected," he said.
He also called for swift parliamentary consultations to designate a new prime minister.
