A delegation from the Agriculture Ministry, commissioned by Minister Hassan Lakkis, visited the Syrian Economy and Foreign Trade Ministry on Saturday, with the aim of opening the door to export Lebanese bananas to the Syrian market, where they met with Minister Mohammad Samer al-Khalil.
In an issued statement following the meeting, the delegation described it as "friendly and open," and expressed al-Khalil's positive readiness to "address the agricultural issue and exchange between both countries, and to facilitate the transit of Lebanese products through Syrian territory."
The statement added that "the Lebanese delegation thanked the Syrian Minister and the Lebanese-Syrian Supreme Council for their constant interest in Lebanese farms, especially in opening the Syrian market for Lebanese banana produce."
