Weddings tend to make people go a little crazy, but this is next level.
In screenshots of an anonymous woman's Facebook posted to Reddit, a bride has announced that she'll be cancelling the wedding...but keeping $30,000 that the family had donated to her.
She said, "After much reflection and tear-filled conversation with our closest family members, we have decided to cancel our upcoming winter wedding."
She then went on to thank guests for their "generous" donations to the fund of "over $30,000". She adds that guests shouldn't worry, for the money won't be "in vain" - she and the groom will use it towards a honeymoon.
If that wasn't ridiculous enough, she went on to say that after they regain financial stability and "hold calm in our hearts", they will announce a new date and reopen their fund, she then added that she'd be updating the gift fund registry for something to take on honeymoon.
But that guest shouldn't worry - the new wedding is going to be a HIT.
The post is wildly scammy, and commenters on Facebook were not thrilled. A family member went all in with, "is this a f*cking joke?" while another accused "Pam" of day drinking.
Bizarrely, the wife claimed that as they had chosen and consented to donate money, they had no say in how it was spent.
The users responding on Reddit were similarly appalled, with one saying, "I’m actually speechless. Spending 30k on a honeymoon for a wedding that got cancelled? Wooooow".
Another said, "The way I read the "financial stability" shit was that they're not financial stable now, and won't be after the honeymoon.
"That $30K, oh that's for me to spend on myself as I want, including my honeymoon, no I won't be putting it towards making us financially stable. I expect you to donate more money to me for that!"
One thing everyone can agree on...the couple seem pretty deluded.
