The UN agency for Palestinian refugees added in an X post that many of that number have been displaced up to four or five times.
The latest wave of forced displacement by the Israeli army began on May 6, then the army dropped leaflets over eastern Rafah ordering residents to leave.
Since then, the UN said yesterday, over 900,000 people in Rafah have fled.
Also yesterday, UNRWA said that its facilities in Khan Younis alone, used as shelters for forcibly displaced Palestinians, have increased in occupancy by 35 percent since May 6.
