Caretaker Prime Minister, Hassan Diab, on Thursday received at the Grand Serail, Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ambassador Houssam Zaki, accompanied by Assistant Secretary-General, Ambassador Abdel-Rahman Al-Solh, Director of Arab Mashreq Department at the League of Arab States, Lama Kassem, Secretary-General's Advisor, Jamal Rushdie, and Advisor of the Arab League Office in Beirut, Dr. Youssef Al-Sabawi, in the presence of Minister Charbel Wehbe and PM Advisors, Khodor Taleb and Ambassador Gebran Soufane.
After the meeting, Zaki said: "I met with caretaker prime minister, Dr. Hassan Diab, and it was a beneficial encounter, for I took stock at the critical economic and living conditions in Lebanon. We held a frank discussion about the future of the situation and how the international and Arab community can help. I told His Excellency that the political solution is an entry point to improving economic conditions, and he was so understanding about it. In fact, the Arab League is aware that the special economic situation and the political crisis require Arab assistance and lending a helping hand to the political parties and factions, and we are ready to do so, if the parties so wish. By concluding my visits, I hope that we will reach the best approach for how to support and help Lebanon out of its current crisis".
