Caretaker Finance Minister, Ghazi Wazni, welcomed on Thursday the Head of Mission and Chargé d'Affaires at the British Embassy, Martin Longden, and discussed the financial situation in Lebanon, namely the issue of forensic audit, as well as Lebanese-British relations.
After the meeting, Longden said: “I discussed with Minister Wazni an array of critical economic issues and challenges that Lebanon is currently facing and the urgent need for a political solution to these problems, including the formation of a new government. We also touched upon the issue of support and options available to the government, and the developments related to forensic scrutiny, which is considered necessary. "
"I reiterate the United Kingdom's position in support of forensic audit, which constitutes one of the basic components for reaching a solution with the International Monetary Fund and thus making a difference in Lebanon," he said.
