Caretaker Minister of Agriculture Abbas Hajj Hassan stressed the link between climate change and food security in the Arab world.
Minister Hajj Hassan confirmed his words during a speech, that “both are interconnected and cannot be separated,” pointing out that every effort towards climate change and how to get out and limit the phenomenon of global warming is very important."
Hajj Hassan stressed "the necessity of supporting the preparations being made by the United Arab Emirates for the COP 28 Conference of the Parties, to provide solutions on how to get out of the global warming crisis, and this is very useful for our Arab countries."
He added: “The preparations made by the UAE will be like a climate demonstration in which most countries of the world will participate,” stressing that through Arab integration with the UAE, any crisis in the region or the world can be overcome.
The minister called on Arab countries to “invest in the field of agriculture within their borders and lands and not on the edges of the earth,” calling for investment in the closest Arab regions suitable for legume crops, wheat, or even fodder.
He also pointed out that “the meeting discussed the existence of a mandatory partnership between the League and the Arab League with all its branches and international bodies in the Arab countries, to reach Arab regions suffering from crises such as Sudan - Libya - Yemen - Syria.”
Hajj Hassan stressed "the importance of trusting our Arab bodies, which are more appropriate to our Arab reality than other organizations," pointing out that "Lebanon is suffering, like many countries in the Arab region, from the repercussions resulting from the challenges facing the global economy."
