American envoy Amos Hochstein confirmed that he was happy to return to Lebanon, saying from Ain El-Tineh after meeting with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri: “I am here to support a diplomatic solution to end the escalation on the southern border in order to allow the southern Lebanese to return to their homes, and the same applies to the Israelis.”
Hochstein continued: “The escalation will benefit neither of the Israeli nor Lebanese parties, America believes that the diplomatic solution is the best, and everyone has the right to live in peace,” adding: “United States' work with the Lebanese government to secure prosperity and sustainability for the Lebanese people is still ongoing, because escalation will not help Lebanon rebuild.” He pointed out that "any truce in Gaza will not necessarily extend automatically to Lebanon."
He concluded: ": We are working to reach a ceasefire in Gaza and release the prisoners, as well as extending this truce to the south of Lebanon."
