Deputy Parliament Speaker Elias Bou Saab welcomed Caretaker Minister of Defense Maurice Sleem in his office at the Parliament.
The meeting reportedly discussed the country’s general situation and the ministry's affairs. Bou Saab praised Sleem's "steadfastness and clarity of position, and his commitment to implementing laws without succumbing to any pressures in order to maintain a smoothly functioning military institution."
For his part, Sleem reiterated "his commitment to work within his constitutional powers regardless of the media or other pressures,” emphasizing that “adherence to the enforcement of laws is the only deterrent to protect the military institution."
