Caretaker Minister of Economy and Trade, Raed Khoury, received a delegation from the Food Importers Syndicate headed by Hani Al-Bohsali who expressed concern over the decision to ban the import of some Turkish products, a decision made by the said Minister last month.
Khoury stressed that this decision "does not target anyone personally, but rather aims to protect the Lebanese industries and contribute to the development of the economy."
On the other hand, Khoury told the delegation that "importers of foodstuffs should cope with the decision which is in the interest of the Lebanese economy and would reduce the deficit in the trade balance."
He explained that "the impacts of the decision were positive for some countries, as they decided to increase the volume of imports from Lebanon so as to avoid similar decisions."
Khoury stressed that he will work to amend international agreements with Arab and European countries in the interest of Lebanon.
