Deputy Prime Minister and outgoing Minister of Public Health, Ghassan Hasbani, said "everyone is concerned with the formation of the government and at the forefront are the Premier-designate and the President."
"It is not permissible for each party to hold on to a portfolio and refuse to let go of it, considering it is an exclusive right," said the minister, stressing that the Lebanese Forces is facilitating the formation process, and has provided the PM-designate with an array of options.
"The LF did not adhere to any of the portfolios it used to hold, as the Ministry of Health, for example," he said in an interview.
"It is, however, the right of the Lebanese Forces to get proper representation and to be active, out of respect for the confidence that was given to the party by the citizens in the [parliamentary] elections, as happens with other parties who have a large presence in the House of Representatives. Us facilitating the government formation should not be at the expense of the people who voted for us and supported our ministerial work," said the minister, confirming that the party does not cling to any cabinet portfolio out of respect for the principle of rotation and true partnership.
He concluded by saying "We must always be optimistic and fully trust the wisdom of PM-designate Saad Hariri and President Michel Aoun, and their ability to solve problems and obstacles."
