President Michel Aoun stressed on Friday that "conviviality in the Mountain region is protected by the will of its people first, under the auspices of the State and its institutions," adding that "what happened recently in Qabrshmoun can only be erased through a fair and sound trial that paves the way for reconciliation. There shoule be no settlements in such crimes."
President Aoun told a delegation of heads of monasteries and priests of the Chouf region during a meeting at the Baabda Palace today, in the presence of Strong Lebanon bloc member, MP Mario Aoun, that "no one is satisfied with the reoccurrence of what happened and no one will be above the law and the fair judicial procedures."
He pointed out that "activating the presence of the State in the Mountain and other areas is not only done through security, but also by means of development and by bolstering production sectors so as to provide new job opportunities, making those not limited to the capital, the suburbs and coastal cities, but rather available across all regions."
MP Aoun thanked the President of the Republic for "the attention he pays to the needs of the people of all Lebanese regions, especially the sons of Chouf," briefing him on the current reality in the region and its various developmental needs.
