President Michel Aoun and First Lady Nadia Shami Aoun, received at the Beiteddine Palace on Saturday afternoon, Progressive Socialist Party Leader Walid Jumblatt, his wife Noura and his son, MP Taymour Jumblatt.
A meeting was held between President Aoun and Druze leader Walid Jumblatt, in the presence of MP Taymour Jumblatt, Foreign Affairs Minister, Gebran Bassil, and President Aoun's Key Advisor Mireille Aoun Hachem.
Following the meeting, Jumblatt said that President Aoun called on top political leaders to meet to discuss measures to face the country’s economic challenges.
"The President will invite the country's officials to meet to assume our responsibilities and prepare for the 2020 budget, which should be a real beginning to address the economic and monetary situation in the country," Jumblatt noted.
Jumblatt stressed that "the president considers the new "negative" ratings a danger to the Lebanese economy, and that Lebanese officials must take action, some of which may be unpopular."
Asked about his first meeting with Bassil after the Qabrshmoun incident, the Druze leader described the meeting as "friendly."
