White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby has said the US is still not drawing red lines for Israel.
The comment came during a news conference today when Kirby was asked if the rising death toll in Gaza has led to the re-assessment of Washington’s stance. “That is still the case,” he responded.
Reporters also pushed Kirby on whether the US has raised the prospect of suspending or reducing aid to Israel if civilian casualties are not minimized.
“I’m not gonna get into the private conversations we’re having with our Israeli counterparts,” he said.
“I’ll tell you this, we’re going to continue to make sure they have the tools and capabilities that they need to defend themselves against what clearly was an existential threat to their society and their people.
“We’re going to make sure they continue to have what they need, we’re also going to continue to urge them to be as careful deliberate, and discriminate in their targeting as possible.”
