A Brazilian man has managed to avoid paying a penny in rent for over two decades - by living in a giant sandcastle of Rio de Janerio's pristine beaches.
Barmy 'sand king' Marcio Mizael Matolias, 44, has spent 22 years living in a series of awe-inspiring sculptures on one Barra da Tijuca beach.
He even has a throne and sceptre - and spends his days entertaining tourists and playing seaside golf.
He said: "I grew up in the Bay of Guanabara, I always lived on the beach.
"I have become a sort of tourist attraction.
"People pay exorbitant rents to live in front of the sea, I do not have bills and here I have a good life.
Matolias has to constantly water the turrets of his castle to keep them from caving in on his 3x3m bedroom.
The hole is filled with books and childhood toys, and is held up by a makeshift wooden frame.
