A ceremony was held on Thursday at the gov-run Tripoli Hospital attended by Deputy Prime Minister, Public Health Minister, Ghassan Hasbani, and Saudi Embassy Charge d'Affaires, Minister Plenipotentiary Walid Bukhari, to deliver a donation by the Embassy to the aforementioned Hospital.
The Saudi donation comes as a joint contribution of the Saudi Fund for Development and the United Nations Population Fund.
The ceremony was attended by the governmental Tripoli Hospital Board Chairman, Fawaz Hallab, accredited Lebanese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Fawzi Kabbara, and local dignitaries and senior hospital administration and medical staff.
Minister Hasbani, Charge d'affaire Bukhari and attendees toured the various units of the Hospital, namely the neonatal wing and inspected the installations of the currently under construction radiation facility for oncology.
In his delivered word during a ceremony at the Hospital's Maternity ward, Hasbani thanked Saudi Arabia and the United Nations for supporting Lebanon's health sector, underlining the paramount importance of developing primary health care as a cornerstone of the health sector development strategy for essentially providing awareness, primary treatment and early diseases' detection.
The Minister stressed that he is sparing no effort to develop the health sector of the city of Tripoli and all areas in Lebanon, saying "building a society and a solid economy as well as a healthy homeland begins with a sound health."
