Future bloc head, MP Bahia Hariri, on Thursday welcomed British Ambassador to Lebanon, Chris Rampling, who visited her in the company of a delegation from the UK embassy.
During the meeting, the pair reviewed British-Lebanese bilateral relations, issues of common interest, as well as the programs and projects that the British Government has been supporting in the fields of development, education, and heritage preservation.
The meeting had also been an occasion to discuss the situation in the city of Sidon and its surrounding region.
MP Hariri welcomed Ambassador Rampling in Sidon, and praised Britain's role in supporting Lebanon on all levels.
Following the meeting, the British Ambassador said: "I am very happy to visit Sidon today. I thank Mrs. Bahia Hariri for the great hospitality and for this meeting, which was an opportunity for me to get a briefing on all the projects in Sidon, including of course the British projects and the contribution of the British Government in supporting development in Sidon and in Lebanon as a whole.”
“I’m aware that the current economic conditions in Lebanon are difficult, but of course, the UK supports the Lebanese people whilst facing these conditions whether here in Sidon or in other regions,” Rampling added.
“It is important that ambassadors like me come and visit areas and towns and listen to the people’s needs and issues,” the UK diplomat concluded.
