Minister of State for Administrative Development Affairs, May Chidiac, on Friday stressed the substantial need for an effective and constructive digital government, underlining the Ministry's relentless work to realize a responsive and prompt electronic public administration.
Minister Chidiac's words came during her inauguration of the Conference on Information Technology and Liberties at the Saint Joseph University premises, representing Prime Minister Saad Hariri.
The Conference is jointly organized by the Faculty of Engineering at Saint Joseph University and the Lebanese Association for Information Technology (LITA), attended by the Chairman of Information Technology Parliamentary Committee, MP Nadim Gemayel, former Minister Ibrahim Al-Najjar, and scores of law, academic and concerned dignitaries and University students.
"It is time to achieve the automation of the state and to transform our economy into a digital economy," Minister Chidiac maintained, saying "benefiting from international expertise is very essential in this regard."
Chidiac also noted that the realization of a digital government and a digital economy shall facilitate work in several sectors, notably in the health care and hospitalization sector, construction, and commercial register.
"To effectively reach digital transformation, we also need a restructuring of public administrations," the Minister said, adding that her Ministry will play a key role in this respect.
Chidiac underlined that the proposed reforms for the 2020 state budget are essential, indicating that any attempt to escape from these reforms is considered a crime.
