Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati met at the Grand Serail with Minister of the French Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu, who visited him in the company of French Ambassador to Lebanon Hervé Magro.
The meeting reportedly emphasized the need to maintain “close cooperation and coordination between the Lebanese Army and UNIFIL, the activation of UNIFIL’s tasks, and the necessity of establishing calm along along Blue Line.”
For his part, Minister Lecornu stressed "the importance of having all parties in south act rationally and wisely to avoid pushing matters towards escalation and deterioration."
The French Minister also underlined “the necessity of finding an urgent solution to the hostage situation in Gaza and to the Palestinian issue.”
Moreover, the French minister informed the government that "France has decided to send urgent aid to the Lebanese Army, including medicine and medical equipment.”
